Asymmetry of Good & Bad News
We treat good news like healthy food.
A little every day.
Sustainable. Nourishing.
We treat bad news like illness.
We’d rather suffer hard and fast than bleed slowly.
This asymmetry matters.
Drip bad news over weeks and people rot from anxiety. Dread becomes the background noise in your fead. Hope erodes.
Bundle it instead. all at once and people metabolize. They might be down and out that day, but slowly and surely find a way to metablize the news and move on.
Good news is the opposite.
Dump it all at once and the joy spikes—and crashes. Spread it out and morale compounds. Momentum builds.
This is as much corp psy-ops as much as understanding human psychology.
Understanding this shapes culture. Relationships. Trust. Mental health.
Design systems for how humans are, not how spreadsheets wish we were.
We are asymmetrical creatures.
Honor that.
And we suffer less.
